Welcome to our Primary classrooms here at ISG!
This week, the second school week of the year, Upper Primary pupils have worked their way through their first weekly assignment in Numeracy and Literacy. There are so many things to think about and it takes time to learn the new routines. In Numeracy we use the Abacus program and the different year groups in the class work with different books. We have practiced the more practical part of using a separate textbook and notebook, using a pencil, rubber and a ruler to make the notebook look nice and tidy. We have finished off this week's guided reading and a reading follow-up. We have looked at spelling and grammar rules, and we have practiced our handwriting.
Our latest pieces of art are now on display in the hallway, so that parents and visitors can see our clay craft. We made imprints in clay, using plants, and we are really happy with the result.
We have started talking about IPC, what IPC means and how we will work with different topics onwards. We have started talking about the 8 personal goals in IPC, and one of them is cooperation. We have talked a lot about cooperation this week, we have played games and tried to find examples on how we cooperate in Upper Primary. Cooperation means to do your best and do your part, share things, work together, ask for help and listen to others. It means to give support and help others and also to encourage others!
Homework will be handed in on Monday. We are then also supposed to hand in a worksheet with the personal goals in IPC, written in our mothertongue, to help us better understand the words that we use in the classroom.
We ended the week in a festive way, when Diba surprised us all with a birthday cake and yummy treats! Thank you, Diba! After the cake we had our last break and when we came up to our classroom it was time to start our choosing time!
Every Friday we end the week with choosing time. This is what our choosing time looked like last week. Upper and Lower Primary pupils played together and shared the things that we have in the three Primary classrooms. Even though we spend a lot of time in different classrooms during the school days, we are also making new friends in the other classes here at ISG.
We played with the LEGO, that is great fun and a great opportunity to show that we can cooperate.
We played with the Eitech construction game and built things like letters, cars and buildings!
We played games!
We played teacher!
And we read interesting books!
It is lovely to have choosing time at the end of the week! Happy pupils play together and then say goodbye to each other with a big smile on their faces.
Have a nice weekend and see you on Monday!
